Orava - Demo release WOWOWOW

Orava Demo v1.0 is done!

In a way, I guess.

It’s got way less in it than I planned, funny how that always seems to happen, no matter how small I make the project lol. I was gonna add a racing section, but I didn’t have time to make that part yet. Instead you meet a creepy character that I was intending on adding later, but where they appear is good enough for now.

I had a deadline set for myself which was the 10th of November (today!). But I still completed it too late. 10th Nov is when the steam animal fest started, and I wanted to get the Orava demo into that. It seemed perfect! It’s what motivated me to work on it for a while anyway. BASICALLY I didn’t get into the steam animal fest, because my main steam page kept getting denied because I wasn’t crystal clear about the EXACT features one could expect to receive with their purchase. This delayed my steam page being up by about 2 weeks, which meant I couldn’t enter the animal fest because it’s already started.

:(

I am happy though, happy that I got SOMETHING done, for the time that I chose. It’s good to practice finishing things, and also to share them, now more than ever. Ahh I see why adventure games are less popular to make nowadays though, THEY TAKE A LOT OF WORK. Painting every background, as fun as it is it’s also pretty time consuming. I think the only people still making hand painted adventure games are people who are very passionate about them, or they haven’t made one before lol.

What to do now though. I’m going to take a short break, just so my brain doesn’t shut down. Then I will work hard to finish Orava, I don’t plan to spend more than a few more months on it I think. I want to get to the point where I can finish a good couple of projects a year, short ones that I can just MOVE ON from.

I also plan to update my website, so I will brush up on my HTML jank knowledge to try and piece something together. I’d like a space on the internet that feels more my own, but I can ramble about that another time. I have a rough plan for it that should be fun to mess around with.

If you played the demo, thank you. Sorry it’s so short, I will add more shit to do I promise. The bones of the project are in place, and adding new junk should be relatively fast. Just need to plug my tablet in and paint the daaang backgrounds.

P.S. I love you
